Shook Wickham Bishop & Field and its predecessors have been providing
legal services to upper Vancouver Island residents and businesses since
the mid 1960's.
We began practicing out of our own building under the name McVea Shook Wickham & Bishop. Since the retirement of Mike McVea on June 30, 2004, we carry on business under our current name. Although Tom Bishop has retired from the partnership, he remains with us an associate.
Over the years we have grown
to be one of the largest law firms outside of Victoria on Vancouver
Island, British Columbia, Canada.
Shook Wickham Bishop & Field provides legal services
in many areas. Our corporate and business law team consists of 3
lawyers and 4 highly trained staff.
This team deals with a broad range of commercial, corporate
and business law matters, including incorporations, buying and selling
businesses, real estate development, sales and purchases, mortgages,
plus personal matters, such as wills, estates, estate planning, tax
planning and contract drafting. We also represent clients in forestry
and first nations matters.
Our litigation team currently has 8 lawyers plus support
staff who act for clients in a wide range of disputes, both in court
and through mediation and arbitration. We represent clients in personal
injury cases, contract disputes, wrongful dismissal claims and workers
compensation matters, as well as divorce, family, criminal, estate and
other disputes. We also have 2 trained mediators/arbitrators who can
assist parties in resolving their differences through mediation and
arbitration.
